I didn’t expected that, but it happened. I witnessed this Wednesday the Coup that overthrew Mauritanian president Sidi Ould Cheikh Abdallahi, one of the few in Africa or the Arab world to have been democratically elected.
I’m quite worried that the democratic experiment that Mauritania has seen in the last years may be ending with this coup. Anyway, presidential elections are schedulled, and the priority now is a return as soon as possible to constitutionnal order, and the protection of all Human rights.
